Learning objectives

To be able to:

• Access genomics data from public repositories
• Know different data formats used in genomics
• Be able to use the Linux commands to parse and convert those formats

• Module one
  • Create directory and practice moving around. Knowing more about a function
  • Download files from repositories.
  • Manipulate files, piping, parsing, reformatting.
  • Sequence file formats: Fasta and fastq.
  • Bed format and regular expressions.
• Module two
  • Tabular formats
  • GTF files
  • Space on volumes and permissions
  • Variables and “For” loops
